Manas is a legendary hero of the Kyrgyz epic. Manas fought for independence of the Kyrgyz and laid the foundation of the Kyrgyz statehood. The Kyrgyz are peculiar people. They have created their own unique way of existence during thousand years history. Acquaintance with ancient Kyrgyz customs and traditions as well as variety of Kyrgyz landscapes will leave an unforgettable impression.


Travel begins in Bishkek with city-tour, which includes visiting of the Historical Museum, Frunze Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts, Ala-Too Square (motley mountains, Turk.), the Victory Square and the monument to the legendary hero Kyrgyz epos - Manas. Next day morning is transfer to Lake Issyk-Kul with visiting a historical complex of Burana Tower (XI century A.D.). The complex was a part of Balasagun city, the capital of Karakhanid's state which located on the Great Silk Road. The historical complex consists of a small museum and tower itself. There are collection of stone figures of people - "balbals" and ancient labor tools - millstones and seed-grinders under the open sky nearby. Then the route goes through the scenic Boom Gorge along the rough Chu River and leads out to Lake Issyk-Kul. Stop for overnight on the shore of Lake Issyk-Kul in a yurt - traditional dwelling of Kyrgyz people. Taking leave of Issyk-Kul Lake and continue the travel to the South, towards China. Arrival in the amazing Kara-Koyun Gorge. There is caravanserai Tash-Rabat (stone structure, Turk.) in uppers of the gorge. It is the biggest and only one construction of such type dated to XV century A.D. in Central Asia. Making the acquaintance with local shepherds. They will offer national felt handcraft, invite to visit their dwellings and taste tea and national drinks such as kumys and airan.



After spending a night in the yurt camp, the trip continues to the high-altitude Son-Kul Lake (the last lake, Turk.) and further to Susamyr Valley. Numerous skiff's barrows, nomad's yurts and nice mountain views with bright alpine flora are found on the way. Passing over the Ala-Bel Pass (motley pass, Turk.), drive down along Chichkan (mouse, Turk.) Gorge where yurts for overnight are situated. Next path goes along the coast of Toktogul Reservoir. Its waters are used in hydro-electric engineering and for irrigation the lands of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. In 4 hours' journey on the way from Toktogul Reservoir to Osh city there is Uzgen - a town, which is situated in the picturesque place on the Kara-Dariya River. The town is located at the altitude of 1012 m. In Uzgen there is the unique Architectural site of XI-XII centuries consisting of three Mausoleums and minaret. In hour and a half driving from Uzgen is Osh city, the point of destination for this day. Osh is located in Fergana Valley on the bank of Ak-Buura River. Sulaiman Mountain dominates the city and it supposed to be a Holy significance from times immemorial. Sulaiman Mountain is the unique worship complex under the sky, the symbol of Osh. On the southern slope of Sulaiman Mountain the ancient settlement of tillers dated to the late bronze period (X century B.C.) was discovered by archaeologists. In Osh you will visit the oriental market, Holy Mountain and the Museum of Spiritual Culture, which is situated in one of Suleiman Mountain's caves. Flight from Osh to Bishkek. In the evening will be a farewell dinner which is accompanied by performance of Kyrgyz folklore music ensemble.

Day 1: arrival in Bishkek • Day 2: drive to Issyk-Kul Lake via Burana Tower • Day 3: drive to Tash-Rabat Gorge • Day 4: drive to Son-Kul Lake• Day 5: drive to Susamyr Valley • Day 6: drive to Osh • Day 7: Osh, fly to Bishkek• Day 8: departure.
