The Great Silk Road - an ancient trading route used by silk merchants from
the second century AD until its decline in the 14th century. Three routes of
the Great Silk Road (Pamiro-Alai, Fergana, Chui way) had passed through medieval
Kyrgyzia.

The main attractions of the route in the Kyrgyz Republic are old relics such
as Tash-Rabat Caravanserai and Burana Tower and amazing alpine scenery including
the Kyrgyz Ala-Tau and Tien Shan mountain ranges and the Issyk Kul Lake (the
world's second-largest alpine lake). The journey between Bishek and Kashgar
(China) via the Torugart Pass is a popular auto route.
